Has anyone else read this book? "Complicated Shadows: The Life and Music of Elvis Costello" by Graeme Thomson. It's a well-researched look into EC's background, mostly regarding his musical career. Fascinating stuff. It has managed to rekindle my dormant obsession with Declan.

Re: Complicated Shadows
Sat, June 10, 2006 - 11:06 PMGreat book except all the songs and shows that I wish I saw. Will they ever release that Royal Albert Hall Almost Blue thing? There is one cut on the re-released Almost Blue, I'm you're toy (hot burrito #1), which is awesome. Always leaves me wanting more ;-) I also really enjoy both versions of Psycho on there :-)

Re: Complicated Shadows
Tue, June 13, 2006 - 3:27 PMThere is a Bootleg release of 14 songs from the Royal Albert Hall concert on 7 January 1982. Tracklisting is as follows:
Shot with his own gun;
Accidents will happen;
Sweet dreams; (with a false start)
Just a memory;
Too far gone;
I can't stand up for falling down;
Watching the detectives;
New Lace Sleeves
Brown to blue
Town Cryer (not often performed live)
Alison (very often performed live)
Good year for the Roses
I'm your toy (as officially released)
(What's so funny 'bout) Peace, Love and Understanding?
Quality is quite good, and if there were a video/DVD release, this would be better, but for the moment this appears to be what there is. This release does not include a version of Psycho, but you have that on the remastered "Almost Blue" so thats' no loss I guess.

Re: Complicated Shadows
Sun, November 11, 2007 - 8:15 PMIs that the fast or slow version of Town Cryer? I've seen the regular one but not the fast, speed-motowny one ;-)
Just in case and where do you suggest finding this?
Thanks, Robley;D
